Crafts Using Dried Flowers

Decor and crafts you can make with preserved flowers

You’ve enjoyed your beautiful fresh flowers for a week or two and they are starting to wilt…so now what? Here are a few ways to ensure you are enjoying your blooms for years to come. Whether you consider yourself the crafty type or not, there is something here for you from complex projects to simple solutions!

Dried Arrangement

Maybe the easiest option of them all. When your flowers are on their way out, dry them and arrange them in a beautiful vase! This makes for an excellent table centerpiece or decor for a console or bookshelf. Just be sure to dry your flowers properly to save the color and avoid mold. Check out our drying tips if your need advice.

Floral Wreath

Whether you want a more traditional wreath stuffed with dried grasses and flowers, or something more modern and simplistic like this wreath pictured, a wreath can be a great way to use your dried flowers. It also can create a great girls night for crafting!

Not feeling quite this crafty? You can purchase this wreath and others from our Etsy shop here!

Potpourri

I lied, THIS is the simplest use of dried flowers if you are only feeling minimally crafty. Crumble up your dried flowers or peel off the flower petals and display them in a cute bowl or jar for a colorful, vintage vibe and wonderful smelling decor! The best part is that potpourri lasts for a very long time.

Handmade Flower Paper

I haven’t tried this one yet but it is definitely on my list. You can make recycled paper with specs of your dried flowers sprinkled throughout for a whimsical and vintage style paper. Use it for notecards, gift name tags, really for anything! Need a recipe for handmade paper? Here is one you can check out.

Ornaments

This is a favorite! Here at Botanical House I use leftover flowers from our flower cart rentals, dry them and use them to make ornaments during the holidays for markets. People just love them! There are so many ways to do it, but my favorite is to buy glass air plant terrariums and glue the dried flowers inside with a glue gun. I then add a decorative ribbon to hang it on the tree.

You can also purchase orbs that you can simply fill with dried flowers - much less time consuming and tedious, but still beautiful! I’ve had customers say they use these as ornaments during the holidays and as general decor during warmer seasons.
